    PSYC 32A: Psychopathology: Disease, Risk, and Resilience (Formerly titled "Abnormal Psychology")

    Prerequisites: PSYC 10A.
    Course Description: A general introduction to psychopathology. Various theoretical models will be discussed. The techniques and findings of research, clinical, and experimental will be emphasized. Introductory classes will cover theories, models, and principles of clinical practice. The remaining weeks will include an overview of major disorders from the DSM-5: neurodevelopmental, trauma, mood and anxiety, health and eating disorders, and personality disorders. The course will include viewing film and media portrayals of individuals with mental health conditions. Students will be evaluated based on individual and group work in class, two exams, and a final paper. In the final paper, you may choose to conduct a mini-literature review, propose a novel research study, or create a diagnostic report for a fictional character from popular media.
