    FA 3A: Introduction to Drawing I: Open-Air Drawing

    Course Description: In this drawing course, the focus and subject of our work will be the landscape within and surrounding the Brandeis campus.</br></br>We will take an experimental approach to the medium of drawing; working from direct observation of our motif and embracing a searching inquisitive process of discovery. To grow our drawing toolbox, we will be introduced to various art historical tools and techniques from which we will develop our capacity to “see” the visual world. Discovering new relationships between forms, colors, and spatial constructions. We will explore drawings from past and present artists, which will provide inspiration for the possibilities of making an image. In addition, a variety of homework assignments will provide an opportunity to build on the range of skills we are learning in class together and grow an ability to capture the essence of the motif.</br></br><b>This course is open to all majors. Only an interest in drawing is required!</b></br>
