    ENG 79A: Screenwriting Workshop: Beginning Screenplay

    Course Description: There's never been a better time to become a screenwriter. Breakthroughs in technology, production, and distribution have heightened the demand for good scripts. Whether you want to write a micro-budget indie or a Hollywood blockbuster, this course provides all the essential tools you’ll need. Learn the fundamentals – structure, story arc, character development – and develop the first act of your feature screenplay. You’ll also watch and analyze recent movies. Join us for a creative, low-pressure course over five weeks, and you’ll never look at a movie the same way again!Instructor Marc Weinberg has sold screenplays and script ideas to studios and production companies, including Paramount Pictures, USA Network, and A&E. In addition to teaching at Brandeis, he also teaches at Emerson College and Boston University and has been a guest lecturer at the Disney/Pixar Studios. Weinberg is a member of the Writers Guild of America and has a feature film going into production later this year.</br></br><b>The course will be held on campus in Waltham this summer, however, students who can not remain in Waltham may elect to take the class remotely via Zoom with the live class sessions.</b></br>
