CHEM 25B - Section 1: Organic Chemistry IIInstructor: Sinead Walsh Prerequisites: A satisfactory grade (C- or better) in CHEM 25a or its equivalent. Course Description: CHEM-25B will build on the fundamental principles learned in CHEM-25A. We will continue the study of new reactions and how they occur, with a primary focus on the mechanistic and synthetic organic chemistry relating to radical chemistry, aromatic substitution, addition and substitution at carbonyls, substitution alpha to carbonyls, rearrangements, and polymerizations. The organic chemistry of natural compounds (e.g. peptides, carbohydrates, etc.) is introduced.
