Prerequisites: Does not satisfy the School of Science requirement. Students may not take MATH 5a if they have received a satisfactory grade in any math class numbered 10 or higher.

Course Description: Designed for students to acquire and strengthen mathematical skills needed for Calculus and other introductory STEM courses. We study functions and their applications with a focus on trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions, as well as work on foundational algebra skills and applications drawn from STEM fields. The decision to take this course should be informed by the results of the mathematics placement exam.
