ENG 149A: Directed Writing: Writing the Streaming SeriesInstructor: Marc Weinberg Prerequisites: Offered exclusively on a credit/no credit basis. May be repeated for credit. Course Description: Streaming services, web series, and mobile devices have sparked a Golden Age of television programming. The changing industry now offers unprecedented opportunities to new writers. You’ll learn the fundamentals – structure, story arc, character development – while writing an original pilot for your television series. We’ll watch and discuss the elements of successful series) and work together to develop ideas that will attract viewers. Join us for a creative, low-pressure course over five weeks, and you’ll never look at a streaming program the same way!Instructor Marc Weinberg has sold screenplays and script ideas to studios and production companies, including Paramount Pictures, USA Network, and A&E. In addition to teaching at Brandeis, he also teaches at Emerson College and Boston University and has been a guest lecturer at the Disney/Pixar Studios.
