    LGLS 89A: Law and Society Internship and Seminar

    Course Description: Prerequisites: LGLS 10a and one other LGLS course or permission of the instructor. </br>Students are expected to identify and secure a law related internship in a public agency, nonprofit organization or other law or policy related position approved in advance by the instructor. Students who will be in the local area this Summer may reach out to the instructor prior to April 1 to discuss assistance finding a local internship.
    </br></br>
    Course consists of attending a weekly seminar, skill building activities, a supervised law-related internship in a public agency or nonprofit organization, and a related research paper. Students must work between 10 and 15 hours per week at their internship placement site. Students working in full-time Summer internships should speak with the instructor regarding course expectations. Examples of internship activities include investigating discrimination cases, negotiating between consumers and small business, and attending criminal and family court matters. This course is a requirement for the Legal Studies Minor.
